Canon: Original Character
Age: 34
Species: Naga - Human woman from the waist up, rainbow boa from the waist down.
History:
Mirage comes from a world where humans are the alpha species, and everything else is second class if they're lucky. Naga are generally reviled, and most live in underground colonies of their own kind. Mirage, however, chose to live in one of the human cities away from her own kind. Despite the stigma surrounding the snake-folk, she found her niche living in a bar/inn working nights as a prostitute. The town officials generally turned a blind eye to her activities so long as no one wound up dead, and if anyone went missing she was the first suspect. It was a simple life for a while, until one day she had a very special request from a client. He wished to meet his end by her. The pay was good enough that she could do it and not leave her room for a week or more until she'd finished with his body, so she accepted and swallowed the fellow whole. This plan would have worked fine if a paranoid queen hadn't passed down an order that all naga living among humans have metal collars welded around their necks so they couldn't swallow their prey. When the metalworkers and guards came to collar her, they saw her in the process of completing a meal. She admitted to what she had done, insisting that the man had wanted it that way, but it was seen as a murder, and she was arrested and set for the chopping block. Which is, luckily, where our lovely space station comes in. They offered her life, and she accepted.
